On May 27th 2021 the Canadian federal government announced it will pay up to $5,000 if you make your home more energy efficient via a grant program. Only 700,000 grants available for all of Canada.
Overview Energy Efficiency Retrofit Grant Program:
Must be primary residence for the implementation of eligible retrofits done after December 1, 2020
A pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations is required by a government official upto $600 reimburseable.
Must apply online for the program via the canadian government website https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/energy-efficiency/homes/canada-greener-homes-grant/23441
Work to be completed by a trained and licensed professional and fill out the required form to install mechanical or electrical equipment:
Ground or Water source heat pump, Air source heat pump, Cold climate air source heat pump, Heat pump water heater, Renewable energy, Furnace, or Boiler

Eligible property types:
- Single and semi-detached houses
- Row housing
- Townhomes
- All-season cottages
- Mobile homes on a permanent foundation
- Permanently-moored floating homes
- Mixed use buildings – residential portion only
- Small multi-unit residential building- three storeys or less with a footprint of 600m2 or less
